On day two of the IAAF World Championships Beijing, three Jamaican sprinters will gear up to take on the Americans in the 100m semi-finals set for August 23 at 7:10 am ET or 7:10 pm local time in Beijing, China.

After jogging to win heat 7 in 9.96 seconds on day one of the Championships, Usain Bolt will have to have step up his pace in Semi-final 1 tomorrow.

Bolt will line up with a hungry 20-year-old making his World Championships debut, Trayvon Bromell. The young American rushed win his heat in 9.91 seconds. Bolt is looking to win his 9th World Championships gold medal.

Asafa Powell will line up with long time rival Tyson Gay in Semi-final 2 after cruising to win his heat a time of 9.95. Gay won his heat in 10.11, beating Jamaica’s Nickel Ashmeade.

Finished second in 10.19 behind Tyson Gay in heat 2, Ashmeade will have to floor the pedal in Semi-final 3 to secured his place in the 100m finals, as he will line up with two- time drug cheat Justin Gatlin, the man everyone wants Bolt to silence, and Mike Rodgers (9.97). Gatlin recorded the fastest time of the 7 heats after he sprinted to stop the clock at 9.83, signalling he is the man to beat.

The 100m finals is set for 9:10 am on the same day, August 23.
