Jamaica Cheer Federation departs the island for International Training

The Delegation from the Jamaica Cheer Federation (JACF) departed the island this morning for an International Training camp in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. This is their second year training with the International Cheer union. “We’ve seen much development from this opportunity,” Stephen McCubbin, the Marketing, Public Relations and Fundraising Manager JACF told IAJ.

The Jamaica Cheer Federation (JACF) was established to bring cheerleaders together to learn new skills and prepare for JamFit Nationals and International Cheer Union (ICU) Worlds. The JACF is recognized by the Ministry of Sports in Jamaica and the International Cheer Union as the sole governing body of the sport of Cheer in Jamaica. “The ICU is a member of Sport Accord and is fully applied to the

Whilst Cheerleading is now an international sport, it is still a support unit of other sporting activities and is a very effective marketing unit and tool for events and so on,” McCubbin told IAJ. “The Jamaica Cheer Federation has a competition on July 4,2015 at the National Indoor Sports Centre and will be having international competitors from across the region and the world. This is an incubator project but its success and growth is reliant on the support we are able to gain,” he continued.
