Elaine Thompson-Herah becomes the first woman to successfully defend a sprint double. The Jamaican, who won the 100m a couple of days ago, wins the 200m in 21.53, breaking Merlene Ottey’s national record.
Thompson-Herah is now the second-fastest woman in history over both 100m and 200m.
Elaine Thompson-Herah has now won 4 Olympic gold medals (2016 and 2020) and 1 Olympic silver.
Christine Mboma finished second and Gabrielle Thomas third. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished fourth. Shaunae Miller-Uibo finished last.
