Usain Bolt jogged to clock 9.96 in Heat 7 of the Men’s 100m on the evening session of Day 1 of the IAAF World Championships Beijing underway in China. Earlier, Asafa ran a comfortable 9.95 in heat 1 and Nickel Ashmeade clocked 10.19 to finished second behind American Tyson Gay (10.11) in heat 2.

Bolt’s biggest rival America’s Justin Gatlin clocked the fastest time of the 7 heats, with a time of 9.83.
Newcomer Trayvon Bromwell of America clocked the second fastest time of 9.91. He is a young, hungry star to watch.
