World Youth champion Christopher Taylor of Calabar High has safely secured his spot to represent Jamaica in the IAAF under-20 in Poland, after winning the 400m race in 46.26 seconds.
The annual two-day event is used to select athletes for the IAAF World Under 20 championship (formerly World Junior championship) to be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland, between July 19-25.
Sean Bailey of St Jago High finished in 46.51 seconds while Anthony Carpenter of Calabar High was third in 47.25 seconds. The Calabar standout, just as he did Saturday in the heats, toyed with the opposition for the first 300m, before turning on the afterburner and going by long-time leader Bailey for an easy victory.
