Elaine Thompson Beats Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Runs National Record Time 10.70 to Win 100m

Elaine Thompson ran an impressive 100m race to clock 10.70, equaling the Jamaican National record and the fourth fast time in history.

Thompson beat Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who finished second in new season best time of 10.93. Christania Williams finished third in 10.97 ahead of Veronica Campbell-Brown, who finished fourth in 11.10, is shut out of the 100m Olympic team — a reminiscent of 2008.

The Jamaican Senior Championships is used to select the national team to represent and compete in the 2016 RIO Olympics between August 5 and 21 — unlike the IAAF World Championships, no wild cards are available. We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
