Team JA finished third with a season’s best time of 3:04.83 behind Team USA, who won the event in a new World U-20 leading time of 3:02.39. Botswana was second in 3:02.81.

Team Jamaica was placed fifth on medal standings, after winning a total of eight medals, including two gold, three silver, and three bronze — the most medals won since the championship in 2006 at Beijing, China, and the two gold medals were achieved on six other occasions.
