Javon Francis won the Men’s 400m final in 44.95 on the final day of the Jamaica Olympic Trials/Jamaican Senior Championships — held June 30 – July 3 at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Francis is now a two-time National Champion. Fitzroy Dunkley finished second in 45.35 and Nathan Allen third in a time of 45.52. The Olympic standard for the Men’s 400m is 45.40, which means Francis and Dunkley have automatically qualified for the Olympics.
The Jamaican Senior Championships is used to select the national team to represent and compete in the 2016 RIO Olympics between August 5 and 21 — unlike the IAAF World Championships, no wild cards are available. We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
