Simone Facey beats Veronica Campbell-Brown to 200m in 22.65

Simone Facey beats Veronica Campbell-Brown to the women’s 200m final in 22.65 on Day 4 of the Jamaica Olympic Trials/Jamaican Senior Championships on Saturday — held June 30 – July 3 at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Veronica Campbell-Brown finished second in 22.80. Kali Davis-White came in third in 22.94. Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce both applied for medical exemption. Fraser-Pryce suffers from a toe injury while Thompson cited stiffness in her hamstring.

The medical exemption as granted by The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), the national governing body for the sport of athletics / track and field in Jamaica, requires that both ladies must prove his fitness before July ends.

The Jamaican Senior Championships is used to select the national team to represent and compete in the 2016 RIO Olympics between August 5 and 21 — unlike the IAAF World Championships, no wild cards are available. We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
