The IAAF have unveiled the medals that will be presented at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London.
The planet’s leading athletes will descend on the London Stadium in Stratford for the highly anticipated Championships set for August 4-13, the biggest athletics event since the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
For the first time at the World Championships, ‘coaches medals’ will also be handed out to recognise those who prepare athletes.
Every event is represented by various symbols on the front of each medal, while the London skyline is also displayed.
The Tower Bridge, the London Eye, the Shard, St Paul’s Cathedral and Big Ben all appear within the medallion, which is shaped to resemble the curves of an athletics track.
Jamaica’s athletes are expected to compete for a spot on the team to the London World Championship at this year’s National Senior Championships set for June 22 -25 at the National Stadium following the Racers Track Club Grand Prix on June 10.
