A tsunami warning is in effect in Jamaica, Cuba and the Cayman Islands following a massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake in the Caribbean and was felt as far away as Miami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quake struck at 2.10pm EST in the Caribbean Sea to the south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica, according to data from the United States Geological Survey<\/a> (USGS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Update:<\/strong> The tsunami threat was lifted this afternoon, one hour after the quake following two 4.7-magnitude aftershocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The extent of the damage from the earthquake is unclear. There are no initial reports of damage or casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its epicenter was about 72 miles northwest of Lucea, Jamaica, and 87 miles southwest of Niquero, Cuba, at a depth of 6.2 miles, according to the US Geological Survey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
