Kristina Newman-Scott was a visual artist, arts consultant and popular television\/radio personality in Jamaica, where she was born and raised. She became a U.S. citizen in 2013 and resides in Hartford with her husband Gordon and their five year old daughter.<\/p>\n

Newman-Scott got the opportunity to share her\u00a0unexpected journey from a painting student at Edna Manley College in Jamaica, to Director of Culture for the State of Connecticut.<\/p>\n

TED<\/a> is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less.\u00a0TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.”<\/p>\n

She is the Director of Culture for the State of Connecticut where she oversees all aspects of the state\u2019s programs and services related to art, culture and historic preservation.<\/p>\n
