Thompson shocked the world after she unexpectedly finished 5th in the women’s 100m final. She later said her race didn’t go as planned, but she praises the medallists.
Elaine Thompson, the Olympic 100m and 200m champion, was seeking her first World Championship title.
American Tori Bowie, the Rio Olympic silver medallist, won the gold medal in 10.85. Marie-Josee Ta Lou of Cote d’Ivoire won the silver in 10.86. Dafne Schippers took the bronze medal in 10.96.
