Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson set World-leading 100m time at National Senior Championships

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson have set the new 100m world-leading time during the Women’s National Senior Championships at National Stadium, while 17-year-old Briana Williams finished in 10.94, setting a new National Junior Record for the fourth time this month.

Fraser-Pryce and Thompson stormed out of the blocks and recorded the new, fastest time in the world — 10.73 (+0.6), faster than the now second fastest time of 10.75 set by American Sha’Carri Richardson of LSU, which still stands as the world junior record she registered at the NCAA Championships in Texas on June 8.

However, Jamaica’s 17-year-old Double World under 20 Champion Briana Williams finished third in the Women’s National Senior Championship in a new National Junior Record time of 10.94 seconds with a legal (+0.6) m/s wind tale wind.

Williams has consistently lowered the National Junior Record since June 1 when she recorded 11.10 (+0.2), then 11.02 on June 08. She then registered a blistering 11.01 in the Semifinals of the Senior Women 100m earlier this evening before smashing her record again in the final to record the new record 10.94.
