Powell, who has clocked the fastest time earlier this year (6.49 secs) in Texas, recorded a super fast world-leading and national record of 6.44 to win the Heats, tying for the 3rd-fastest time in World Indoor Championships history! He then equalled said time 6.44 in the semi-final.

The world was expecting him to break Maurice Greene’s 15-year-old World Record 6.39 or his 17-year-old Championship Record 6.42 in the Final.

With the Rio Olympics less than five months away, some of Jamaica’s best athletes have used this event to prepare for the National Trials in May.
