Christiania Williams finished second in 11.27 behind Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye (11.00) and has advanced to the semi-final set for Day 2, Saturday, August 13 in the afternoon session at 7:00 pm JA / 8:00pm ET. Compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won Heat 4 in 10.96 seconds while Elaine Thompson won Heat 7 in 11.21.
After a poor start, rival Dafne Schippers of Netherlands won Heat 2 in 11.16 to advance to the semi-final, while Tori Bowie of USA won Heat 3 in 11.13 and Blessing Okagbare came in second in 11.16 in said race — all in a 0.0 m/s wind.
