Rusheen McDonald finished second in Heat 6 of the Men’s 400m on Day 1 of Athletics at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Friday.

McDonald, who set a new national record 43:93 in the heats of the 400m at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, finished with a season best of 45.22 behind 2012 gold medalist Kirani James 44.93. Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain came in third with 45.26.
McDonald has advanced to the Men’s 400m semi-finals set for Day 2, August 13 in the afternoon session at 6:30pm JA / 7:30pm ET. McDonald personal best is 43.93 and season best earlier this year is 45.32.
