Julian Forte has won the third heat of the men’s 100m qualifying round in the first sub-10 clocking of the Championships, a personal best of 9.99 at the London World Championships underway.

Forte beat Ben Youssef Meïté of the Ivory Coast, who finished second in 10.02. Britain’s Reece Prescod also ran a personal best, 10.03, to take the third automatic qualifying place for the semifinals tomorrow.
