Watch: Kamala Harris historically sworn in as the first female US vice-president

Kamala Harris has been sworn in as  the first female vice-president in US Jan. 20 by Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor.

Harris is the nation’s first woman to be elected to the second-highest office in the U.S. executive branch. Harris is also the first Black and South Asian person to fill this role.

A child of immigrants, Harris is the first woman of Indian and Jamaican descent to be elected in a position in US politics that has long been reserved for whites only.
