Two years after winning Season 5 of NBC’s reality TV singing competition The Voice, Tessanne Chin is finally shooting a music video. On Monday, Tess revealed on all her social media pages that she is busy shooting a music video for her latest single “Fire.”
“It’s a soulful power anthem and a reminder to never sell yours short,” Chin told Billboard two months ago, “to keep your standards high as well as your self-worth.”
The classic-sounding R&B track produced by Justice League showcases her undeniable voice but still an overwhelming effort by Tess according most fans, who are still waiting for a compelling song. Aside from all that, a music video is also long overdue. It has been over eight years since Tess has released a favorable visual.
A release date for the music video has not yet been announced, but we are happily anticipating a compelling video — something we can watch and enjoy every day. Before The Voice, Tess already had a “successful” career here in Jamaica, charting with the reggae hit “Hideaway” and touring the globe with the legendary Jimmy Cliff. While we have all seen her ‘ups’ since the voice, she has had some ‘downs’ — most recently, the reported split from her husband.
The public’s interest in our personal life, though flattering, is a bit uncanny. I ask the media who I served for so long to be respectful.

We have been patient and are all looking forward to her releasing some great songs we can relate to.
To date, Tess’s best songs are Messenger and Hideaway, ask anyone.
