Jamaica claimed 12 medals to finish second on the medal table after nine days of intense competitions at the 15th IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China. Among the 12 medals is a record of seven gold medals, matching the number of gold medals amassed by Kenya, who end the championships at the top of the table.
Jamaica walks away from this year’s championship with two silver medals and three bronze medals. Along with their seven gold medals, Kenya won six silver medals and three bronze medals, bringing their total to 16 medals.
Jamaica have surpassed the nine medals it claimed at the 2013 World Championship in Moscow, Russia. Jamaica took home six gold, two silver and a bronze medal.
Meanwhile, America finished the championships in third place on the medal table with 18 medals: six gold medals, six silver medals and six bronze medals.

On Day 3, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won gold and made history. She became the 2015 World Champion and the first woman to win the 100m World Champion title 3 times — 2009, 2013 and now 2015! Carmelita Jeter was the World Champion in 2011.
On Day 6, Shericka Jackson won bronze for Jamaica in the Women’s 400m.

On Day 8, Jamaica’s Women 4x100m team won gold in 41.07, smashing the Championship Record. Watch here. On the final day of the nine-day championships, Jamaica’s Women 4 x 400m Relay team ran a very impressive race to claim the gold medal in a world leading time. Anastassia LeRoy, Shericka Jackson, Stephenie Ann McPherson, Novlene Williams-Mills, Christine Day, and Chris-Ann Gordon all received gold medals.
